Nashville CARES is hosting Vintner’s 2008, a wine-tasting fundraiser benefiting its partner agency the Comprehensive Care Center (CCC). The event is Friday, August 8, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center.
Wine and food will be available at the event as well as live and silent auctions, music and dancing. Also during the event, CARES and CCC will announce a new, joint initiative to strengthen their response to HIV/AIDS in Middle Tennessee and Joseph Interrante, CEO of CARES, will receive the Neil Diehl Community Service Award.

If you've got brass pipes and a healthy craving for camaraderie, Nashville in Harmony invites you to audition to sing in Nashville's only GLBT-and-allies chorus.
The group is gearing up for a new season and is holding auditions Aug. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., and Aug. 4, 5 and 6, from 7 to 9 p.m.
During the 10-minute interview, singers will croon through a couple of simple exercises to determine pitch-matching ability and vocal range. Sight reading is not required because the group provides chorus members with practice cd's highlighting their individual part.

Nashville is now home to its own chapter of Outright USA Libertarians. The group announced yesterday that the new chapter exists to present libertarianism, the Libertarian Party and its candidates to the GLBT community in and around Nashville.
According to a release from the group, the Libertarian Party has included sexual rights, including equal marriage and adoption, equal military service and the end of sodomy laws, since its first national platform in 1972. Unlike the Stonewall Democrats and Log Cabin Republicans, Outright Libertarians have broad based support in the our party and need not fight for basic recognition of our equal status in society.
